LEARN MOREDAMAGE caused by contractors was blamed for a drop in water pressure experienced by some households in the New Milton area yesterday (Tuesday) evening.
Bournemouth Water sent out automated phone calls and social media posts to alert its customers as engineers worked through the night to resolve the issue.
Apologising for the inconvenience, one of two phone messages sent out on Tuesday night announced bottled water was available in the Osborne Road car park, opposite the water tower.
A post on the company’s Facebook page that evening said: “We would like to apologise to customers in the New Milton area who may be experiencing disruption to their water supply.
“Unfortunately, our water main has been damaged by a third party contractor and customers may experience low water pressure due to this damage.
“We are working hard to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Although Bournemouth Water said it hoped repairs would be completed by midnight, phone and social media updates this morning said its teams worked through the night.
“We’ve repaired this and customers should have normal water pressure,” the post said.
“We want to thank customers for their patience while the investigation and repair works were completed.”
