Fisherman Brendan Bailey’s special moment as dolphins interact with boat off Hengistbury Head
A FISHERMAN has spoken of the “spectacular” moment he captured dolphins jumping out of the sea in front of him off Hengistbury Head.
Brendan Bailey was heading to the Needles off the Isle of Wight at around midday on Tuesday when he saw the mammals in the water.
He told the A&T: “Suddenly, they were everywhere. It was a massive pod – well, two pods. We were with the first pod for around 15 minutes, then as we left we spotted another pod much further out.”
Brendan, who has been fortunate to see dolphins in the area around three years previously, added: “I knew they were in the bay as they have been spotted at Hordle and Barton recently.
“It was a brilliant experience and not something you expect to see.
“It was like they wanted to play – they knew we were there and were jumping with the boat. It was spectacular.”
Brendan was on the fishing trip with his brother-in-law, for whom it was the first time on his boat, which had made it “pretty special”.
