INTRUDERS broke into Liberty's Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre last night (Sunday) but were disturbed by the site's security system.

Two masked burglars entered the site in Crow Lane near Ringwood from the rear and forced entry to a building, triggering an alarm just before midnight.

Jayson Bridges, who runs the centre with his mum Linda, was alerted through his phone, which was linked to the site's security cameras, and arrived at the site 15 minutes later.

"The alarm was triggered which would have disturbed the intruders," said Jason. "I arrived shortly after but they'd very swiftly left and nothing had been taken.

"We can see where they have accessed and they were definitely not interested in the animals – they walked right past the aviaries."

Mr Bridges said he would now have to pay out for repairs to the damaged door and for increased security at the centre.

Police are investigating, and anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Hampshire Constabulary on 101, quoting crime reference number 44220082217.
