Army bomb disposal team detonates Second World War explosives found at West Wellow property
BOMB disposal experts were dispatched after suspected unexploded wartime devices were found inside a New Forest property.
The alarm was raised around 11.20am last Friday, with reports of the ordnance, dating back to the Second World War, at an address on Kingston Park in West Wellow.
Called out by police, an army disposal team carried out a controlled explosion as the Hampshire force sought to reassure the public.
An army spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an army explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team was called out to Kingston Park, Romsey, at the request of Hampshire police.
“A team from 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search (EOD&S) Regiment responded to the call-out in question, where various ordnance of WWII origin was made safe via controlled explosion.”
