New Forest and Christchurch weather: thunder and heavy rain warning for Sunday 18th June from Met Office
Sunny days are set to come to a screeching halt for the second weekend in a row with a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms on Sunday.
The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for most of England, including the New Forest and Christchurch.
It warns of spray, sudden flooding, difficult driving conditions and road closures.
Train and bus services could be cancelled, and there may be power cuts and the chance some communities will be cut off by floodwater.
A spokesperson for the national weather agency said: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop across parts of England and Wales during Sunday, with longer spells of thundery rain in places.
“Whilst many areas will see at least some rain, most will see only relatively small amounts. However, some places could see 30mm in an hour and 60mm in six hours, with the potential for frequent lightning, strong winds and hail.
“Where this occurs there is likely to be some disruption. While there is a high likelihood that thunderstorms will develop over England and Wales, there remains a large amount of uncertainty in exactly where these develop.
“This uncertainty is likely to remain even up to short lead times.”
The warning is in place for the whole of Sunday.
