NFDC planners give go-ahead for building conversion in Milford High Street
A VACANT shop in Milford will be converted into a home after district council planners gave the proposal the go-ahead.
Full planning permission was granted, subject to conditions, for the “redundant” vacant premises at 96 High Street to be converted for residential use.
NFDC planners will allow a two-storey side extension to be built on the property, plus the fitting of front dormer windows, a single-storey rear extension and new vehicular access.
An officer’s report said the property is a semi-detached dwelling with a side extension that was previously used as a shop and later as commercial offices.
The approved plans would see the use of the shop element changed to residential.
An NFDC officer noted: “The shop has been unoccupied for five years and attempts to market it over the last two years have not resulted in any interest.
“It has been unoccupied for a significant period, so the loss of this commercial premises would not have an adverse impact on the vitality and viability of the local shopping frontage.”
Planners said conversion work on the property must begin within the next three years using external facing materials that match those on the existing building.
