Man needing medical attention stretchered from Taddiford Gap beach at Barton onto Mudeford RNLI lifeboat

A MAN who suffered a medical episode was stretchered onto a lifeboat in an “urgent situation” on the beach at Barton.

The alarm was raised shortly after 2pm yesterday (Tuesday), and a Lymington Coastguard rescue team first responded to the casualty near the Taddiford Gap car park.

RNLI help was called half an hour later, and Mudeford Atlantic 85 lifeboat Henrietta H was launched, arriving on scene within 10 minutes.

Two crew members went ashore to assess the casualty with the coastguard team, and transferred the casualty by stretcher to the lifeboat, which then took him to Mudeford Quay where he was passed to a waiting ambulance crew.

Mudeford RNLI volunteer launch authority Simon Challis said: “The Lymington CRT identified this was an urgent situation with the casualty in need of medical attention.

“Due to his location on Barton beach, it was safer to extract the casualty onto the lifeboat and get him to paramedics waiting at Mudeford Quay. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
