Gas leak fixed but B3058 Fernhill Lane in New Milton still closed

A gas leak which shut a main route into New Milton has been fixed but the road remains closed.

As reported in the A&T, one person was evacuated while emergency repairs were made on a gas main yesterday (Wednesday) on the B3058 Fernhill Lane, which was closed between Hollands Wood Drive and Barrs Avenue.

This morning a spokesperson from gas firm SGN said the leak had been fixed but the route was still shut for road repairs.

“Our engineers successfully repaired our gas network overnight,” they said.

“The road closure will remain in place while the road surface is reinstated, and a diversion route is in place for motorists.

“We understand this is a busy route and we’re working hard to re-open the road as soon as possible.”
