Two arrested at New Forest holiday park in police drugs crackdown

The suspects were held on suspicion of drugs offences. One was in his 20s and the second in his 30s, said a Dorset Police spokesperson.

Residents reported up to about 10 marked vehicles in the area around Taddiford Gap, on the edge of the village, including several police vans.

A helicopter was also said to have been circling above the area for several hours.

A spokesperson for Shorefield said: “We are not at liberty to say anything because it is an ongoing police investigation but we are cooperating in full.”

The two arrests follow a major national drugs operation last week, which included Dorset Police activity in Christchurch and detention of a Dorset suspect in his 30s.

Dubbed Operation Venetic and thought to be the largest of its type, across the UK there were 746 arrests and the seizure of £54m of criminal cash, 77 firearms and over two tonnes of drugs.

Yesterday's arrests were unrelated to Operation Venetic.

Following the latest activity in Milford Dorset Police spokesperson told the A&T this morning: “Just before 10pm on Thursday 9th July officers from Dorset Police assisted by colleagues from Hampshire police arrested two Liverpool men on suspicion of drugs offences at Shorefield holiday park in Hampshire.

“One of the men is in his 20s and the other in his 30s and both are assisting officers with their enquiries.

“The arrests were made in relation to an ongoing investigation. Officers are also conducting searches in the immediate area.”
