Milford Parish Council donates turf groomer to Milford Youth Football Club so it can continue to maintain Barnes Lane Recreation Ground
A turf groomer owned by Milford Parish Council will be gifted to the village football club to maintain a recreation ground.
The equipment, which is worth around £2,000, was purchased by the parish around six years ago and is used by football and sports clubs across the area.
However, following the departure of two parish council ground staff, the authority agreed to switch to paying external contractors to undertake necessary work. As a result all grounds maintenance equipment owned by the parish council was subsequently sold.
Parish clerk Graham Wells said: “It is a piece of multi kit equipment that slits, brushes, rolls – it does many things.
“The youth football club are very keen to keep this piece of equipment.”
Parish councillors agreed to donate the turf groomer to Milford Youth Football Club, which maintains the parish council-owned pitches at Barnes Lane recreation ground.
