Trio due in court accused of stealing £400 of groceries from Aldi in New Milton

TWO women and a man are set to appear in court accused of stealing hundreds of pounds of goods from a New Milton supermarket.

Police responded to reports shoplifters had targeted Tesco on Caird Avenue and the nearby Aldi on Starling Avenue between 4.30pm and 6.30pm last Friday.

Groceries valued at more than £400 were said to have been taken from Aldi.

Officers arrested three suspects on Starling Avenue shortly after 6.30pm that evening.

Mariana Bizdadea (38), Vasile-Richard Curt (25) and Gheorghita Curt (23), all of Weston Lane, Southampton, have been charged in connection with two alleged shopliftings.

The trio were released on conditional bail to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 14th December.

A local police Facebook post announcing the charges shared an image of the goods said to have been stolen from Aldi.

It said: “The area, particularly in the run-up to Christmas, will be subjected to individuals and gangs, committing offences against the retail community and our aim is to deter potential thieves from coming to the town with publicised outcomes, to robustly deal with identified offenders and to work together with the community to reduce these (and other types of) crimes in New Milton.”

The post also sought to assure residents that New Milton’s beat team was not purely focused on shoplifting and deals with a variety of other reported incidents.
