Tributes paid to longstanding fundraisers of the NSPCC’s Lymington branch, Pat Leahy and Carole Morris, who served for more than 50 years
TRIBUTES have been paid to two longstanding volunteer fundraisers for a children’s charity following their deaths.
Pat Leahy and Carole Morris were founder members of the NSPCC Lymington Committee – set up in 1973 – and went on to serve for more than 50 years.
The pair formed the group with Julia Lane and Sue Sterndale after hearing a talk by a representative from the children’s charity.
Between them they raised thousands for the cause, hosting everything from jumble sales to cream teas.
An annual afternoon tea for hundreds was organised by them in the garden of treasurer of the branch, Mac Hall.
He said: “Pat and Carole continued to be tremendous supporters of the group until their unfortunate passing. They will be greatly missed by all of us.”
Emma Hildesley, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “We were very sad to hear about the deaths of Pat and Carole, who had been loyal and committed supporters of the NSPCC for more than 50 years.
“We are incredibly grateful for all their efforts and fundraising over the years – they will be missed by all those who worked alongside them for such a long time.”
The branch is now looking for new members, and anyone interested in getting involved with the committee should email Emma Hildesley emma.hildesley@nspcc.org.uk or call 07818 511657.
