Travellers leave Totton & Eling Town Council-owned Myrtle Park playing area after five days

A GROUP of travellers who settled on a Totton playing field left of their own accord after five days.

Totton & Eling Town Council, which owns Myrtle Park playing area, worked with police, New Forest District Council and a gypsy and traveller liaison officer over the unauthorised encampment.

As reported by the A&T, it was first reported there last Tuesday, with initial reports of about eight vehicles.

Totton & Eling town clerk Susan Cutler told the A&T yesterday (Monday) that the group left before court proceedings were carried out.

“Our officer went down there first thing this morning and they were gone,” she said.

“The site is now vacant and we have cleaned up the area.”
