Travel firm overwhelmed by ‘amazing response’ to launch of bra bank

A LYMINGTON travel agency which is running a “bra bank” in aid of breast cancer research has been inundated with donations – racking up five boxes full so far.

Hays Travel are inviting members of the public to part with their unwanted bras to the charity Against Breast Cancer.

Those that are still in good order will be sent out to Africa to be used by women and teens. In countries such as Togo, Ghana and Kenya where bras can be very expensive.

For every ton of bras, Against Breast Cancer can generate £700 and it also prevents the unwanted lingerie going into landfill.

Danni Green, from Hays Travel, told the A&T: “The response so far has been amazing.

“We’ve only been running the appeal for two weeks and we’ve already collected five full boxes.

“Some women have donated new bras that they have bought especially for the appeal. But we are welcoming all sorts – old, new, unused.

“We are hoping to keep running the appeal for as long as possible, or for as long as Lymington runs out of bras!”

Hays Travel already has bra bins at their branches in Ringwood and Hythe. Against Breast Cancer is dedicated to funding ground-breaking research to improve detection, treatment and increase survival rates after a breast cancer diagnosis.
