Talent agent Abbie Hills from Hythe nominated for prestigious Women of the Future award
The founder of a New Forest-based talent agency has been nominated for an award which recognises trailblazing women of the future.
Abbie Hills (28) from Hythe, set up the Dazey Hills company in 2019, which represents actors in the UK and Europe.
Now she has been nominated for a Women of the Future award, under a scheme set up by Pinky Lilani CBE to showcase the UK’s rising female stars and role models for the next generation.
She told the A&T: “It feels amazing to be nominated for this award alongside so many powerful female entrepreneurs. I am really excited to get in the room and support them at the award ceremony on Wednesday.”
The awards cover various categories including sport, science, technology and business. Abbi has been shortlisted along with four others in the arts and culture class.
Abbie’s first job in the industry was at the tender age of 15 as an actress in a true crime documentary, before she went on to study at Applemore and Brockenhurst colleges.
Abbie, who has cerebral palsy, is passionate about diversity and inclusion within the industry, and won the ‘positive role model for disability’ category at the National Diversity Awards in 2021.
Recently, Abbie has been working as an access coordinator in television, which involves supporting on and off-screen talent with disabilities and additional needs.
She added: “Trying to make it in the entertainment industry while living with cerebral palsy has been a struggle, especially as it presents largely as non-visible. People can't understand that most of the time, as cerebral palsy is a condition that does show up for a majority of people in a physical way.
“Living with cerebral palsy has motivated me in all areas of my work to campaign for a more diverse entertainment industry where disability is not forgotten; and it feels really special to be recognised for this work as a finalist in the Women of The Future awards.”
