A MOTORIST was badly hurt after her car overturned when it collided with another vehicle which had failed to stop for police at Hurn.

Witnesses and dashcam footage are being sought as police investigate the incident which began at around 5.25pm last Friday when the driver of a BMW car travelling along Parley Lane reportedly ignored officers’ requests to pull over.

After driving away from officers, the car collided with a red Volkswagen Fox a short time later on the roundabout at the junction of the Avon Causeway.

The Volkswagen landed on its side and its driver, a 22-year-old local woman, suffered a serious head injury. She was taken by ambulance to Poole General Hospital for treatment, and a Dorset Police spokesperson said her condition had been described as “potentially serious”.

Officers arrested two men at the scene, a 22-year-old and a 24-year-old, both from Bournemouth, on suspicion of driving offences, but a third man reportedly left the scene.

Following a search of the area, helped by a police helicopter and a dog unit, a 24-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested nearby on suspicion of driving offences.

All three suspects have since been released but remain under investigation.

The road was closed while emergency crews dealt with the incident, and those with information are urged to come forward.

Sgt Craig Tatton, of Dorset Police’s traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was travelling along Parley Lane at the relevant time and witnessed the collision to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who witnessed the manner of driving of any of the vehicles involved, or captured the collision or vehicles on dashcam, to please contact Dorset Police.

"Finally, we are also looking to speak to a man who was seen in the area at the time who may have information relating to the collision. He is described as a white, approximately six feet tall, of heavy build and was wearing a blue top and cream shorts."

Anyone with information should contact the force on 101, quoting crime reference number 55200068912, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
