TWO teenagers have been arrested after New Forest Ice Cream in Lymington was burgled last night (Wednesday).

Police were first called out on Monday after a vehicle was reported stolen from Inkerman Road in Southampton between 9pm and 6am the following morning.

The vehicle was then allegedly seen during a break-in just before 11pm yesterday at the ice cream firm in Ampress Lane, a police spokesperson said.

An alarm was activated at the rear of the premises after fencing was damaged, and three containers were found forced open and untidy search carried out.

The spokesperson added it did not appear anything had been taken.

A few hours later, patrolling officers saw three people, who matched descriptions seen on CCTV near the burglary, riding bicycles up Clay Hill on the A337 towards Lyndhurst.

After fleeing police and dumping the bikes, officers searched the area and found two people.

Two males, aged 17 and 19, both from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and theft of a pedal cycle.

They remain in custody.
