Police arrest 15-year-old boy after cash stolen in burglary at business in Southampton Road, Ringwood
A TEENAGER was arrested after cash was stolen in a smash-and-grab raid on a Ringwood business last night (Sunday).
Police responded to reports of a burglary between 9pm and 9.45pm at a firm in Southampton Road.
A window had been smashed to gain entry before the intruder fled with the sum of money, and CCTV footage led officers to a person behaving suspiciously nearby.
The individual was detained, and officers seized cash and tools including a screwdriver and a utility knife.
Arrested on suspicion of burglary and assaulting an emergency worker, a 15-year-old boy from Fordingbridge remains in custody.
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “Entry had been gained to the premises via a smashed window and a quantity of cash was stolen.
“CCTV operators located a person acting suspiciously in the local vicinity, and upon police attendance was detained.
“Upon being searched, officers seized a quantity of cash and a number of tools including a screwdriver and a utility knife.”
