A HIGH-QUALITY contest saw Sway Under-18s claim the 2018/19 City of Southampton League Division One title, with a draw against a well organised and dangerous AFC Totton side.

Needing just a point from their rearranged fixture, Sway secured what was needed to spark joyful celebrations at Jubilee Fields last weekend.

A lively first half ended goalless after both sides gave everything to subdue their opponents, but neither team had the composure necessary in front of goal to convert their many chances.

Twenty minutes into the second half AFC Totton made the breakthrough.

A fumbled clearance from a corner gave rise to a frantic scramble in front of goal and an eventual toe poke to squeeze the ball over the Sway line.

To their credit Sway kept their heads and set about the task of securing the point needed to win the title.

A change of formation allowed Tom Burton to drive down the right wing, pulling the ball back for Joe Adams to fire home from the edge of the area.

The game remained open and entertaining to the final whistle but finished 1-1, enough for Sway U18’s to be crowned champions.
