Mudeford care home Avondene given ‘good’ rating by CQC inspectors
A “SMALL and friendly” Mudeford care home has been given a ‘good’ rating by care inspectors.
Avondene, which has beds for 11 people, was graded ‘good’ in all areas by the Care Quality Commission apart from the ‘well-led’ section, in which inspectors said the site needed to improve the way management operates. This is despite residents and relatives sharing their confidence in the leadership.
Residents told inspectors that they were “happy” living at the home saying it was “small, friendly, and like a family”.
The “kindness” of staff was praised by residents and their relatives who said they were also “confident about the leadership” of the home. They also complimented the manager and staff working in the home.
People and staff interactions were affectionate and it was clear they knew each other well and were comfortable in each other’s company, the report said.
But inspectors said although many improvements had been made at the home since their last inspection “some were not embedded into practice and therefore were not reliable enough to ensure all processes in the home operated effectively”.
But they added: “This oversight had not had an impact on people or the home, and the provider immediately rectified the shortfalls found.”
