FOOTBALLING World Cup legend Sir Geoff Hurst will share stories from his illustrious West Ham and England career during a special show at the Regent Centre, Christchurch on Friday 15th March at 7.30pm.

A sporting legend who is still the only player ever to score a hat trick in a World Cup final, (in 1966), Sir Geoff made his name with club side West Ham United, with whom he made 499 league and cup appearances, scoring 248 goals.

During his career Sir Geoff was the FA’s player of the year three times and won the F.A Cup with West Ham in 1964 and the European cup winner’s cup in 1965.

It was playing in the national team that launched Sir Geoff as a world football icon – not only as being part of the England team that won the World Cup in 1966 but also scoring a hat trick in that final prompting Kenneth Wolstenholme´s immortal words: “They think it’s all over — it is now”.

The BBC have since revealed that Sir Geoff’s goal accompanied by Kenneth’s commentary has become TV most shown piece of footage ever.

After leaving West Ham, Sir Geoff then played for Stoke City with 100 appearances and 30 goals, then West Bromwich Albion for 1 year. He then became player-manager for Telford and also had spells playing in America and Kuwait.

He went on to become the assistant coach to the England National team under Ron Greenwood from 1977 to 1982, and then became the manager of Chelsea for two years. Since then he has undertaken speaking engagements around the world and received his knighthood in 1997.

As well as standard entry tickets (£25.50), there will also be VIP meet and greet tickets available for £50 which include a personal photograph with Sir Geoff from a professional photographer and an autograph.

The second half will be a question and answer session with the audience. For more information and bookings, visit www.regentcentre.co.uk or contact the box office on 01202 499199.
