NFDC refuses sign permission application for Hythe shop

A BARBERSHOP in Hythe has been refused retrospective permission for an illuminated sign and shutters.

New Forest District Council’s planning committee dismissed the application for Hythe Turkish Barbershop in the high street due to it being out of keeping for the conservation area.

A report to members explained the non-traditional “garish” sign was out of character, while the external shutters had “an unacceptably adverse impact” on the area.
