Scooter rider in her 90s killed in crash at Hoburne Lane, Christchurch




A WOMAN on a mobility scooter was killed by a crash with a motorbike in Christchurch yesterday (Monday).

The victim was a woman in the 90s. She sustained very serious injuries and died at the scene in Hoburne Lane, at the junction with Primrose Way.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident, which involved a black Triumph motorbike and happened shortly before 11am.

The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment. The family of the woman has been informed.

There were road closures in place between Primrose Way and Highcliffe Road while emergency services worked at the site.

Sgt Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who sadly died in this collision.

“I am conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances and would ask any witnesses, or motorists who may have captured either the mobility scooter or the motorbike on dashcam footage prior to the collision, to please come forward.

“Also, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place.

"These are necessary to allow us to carry out a thorough examination of the scene.”
