Award-winning Saltwater Restaurant moving to bigger premises in Milford

AN awarding-winning Milford eatery is celebrating a move to new larger premises with plans afoot to expand to evening opening.

Formerly known as Saltwater Café, and now rebranded to become Saltwater Restaurant, the popular family-run business first opened in 2016 and has now relocated to a site opposite the village green at 60 High Street.

The duo at the helm are Tony Michael and Becca Stock, who are supported with running the business by their children. They are set to employ two or three additional staff when they expand to evening opening later this month.

Boasting more than 300 five-star TripAdvisor reviews, Saltwater specialises in breakfast, lunches, vegan and gluten-free meals, sweet treats and pastries. Vegetables and fruit are supplied by the Village Veg shop, bread is purchased locally, meat comes from Brockenhurst and greens are supplied by Lightfoot Farm.

It was recently named the best cafe in Hampshire based on Trip Advisor reviews.

Tony said: “We make nearly everything ourselves so meals are prepared to order. We have had amazing support from our loyal customers and have found we are also attracting new clients thanks to our new location.”

The menu offers a range of breakfast dishes such as wild garlic mushrooms on sourdough with garlic butter, shaved Old Winchester cheese and pine nuts; granola bowl with fresh fruit, coconut yogurt and seeds; and breakfast pans. Lunch options include croque monsieur, cauliflower dahl, Korean chicken, prawn saganaki and sushi bowls. Options are adapted seasonally to celebrate local produce.

The new premises, which was formerly occupied by La Perle, have been completely renovated with a green-and-brass colour scheme, complimented by luxury leather seating, lofty house plants and bold wall prints.

Saltwater recently became licensed to serve alcohol, so Becca and Tony are now developing plans to open Friday and Saturday evenings offering drinks, small plate dishes and cocktails.

Currently the opening hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9am to 3pm; and Sunday 9.30am to 2pm.

A dog-friendly venue, it can also be hired for private parties and supper evenings.
