A SPECIAL meeting has been called by Lymington and Pennington Town Council to discuss securing the future of the local WI hall.

As reported in the A&T, the facility, which is located on a corner plot fronting Ramley Road, Yaldhurst Lane and Lodge Road, is being marketed through Woolley & Wallace estate agents with a guide price of £750,000.

Pennington town councillor Jack Davies, who wants the building retained for community use, requested the meeting so members can consider listing it as an Asset of Community Value (ACV).

The ACV process gives communities a right to identify a property important to their social wellbeing.

If the asset comes up for sale, then the community will be given a fair chance to make a bid to buy it on the open market.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 8th June at 10.30am in the council chamber at Lymington Town Hall.

There is no opportunity for public participation and, due to Covid restrictions, members of the public can attend via video link only.
