Towns and villages hosting Queen's platinum jubilee celebrations can apply for free parking in New Forest District Council car parks
THERE could be a day-long royal pardon on parking fees for towns and villages hosting Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations thanks to New Forest District Council.
Cllr Steve Davies, portfolio holder for environment and coastal services, decided to recommend a free parking day be allowed in NFDC car parks for events organised by town and parish councils.
This will be subject to one nominated event per town or parish, with clerks required to email requests to email@example.com specifying the date and event.
Requests will be approved via an emailed response, and ticket machines will be covered up in the respective car parks on the day.
An NFDC report said: “The cost to NFDC of providing free parking in support of these events will have a small impact on annual car park income, but in view of the occasion this loss is considered acceptable and, moreover, it fully supports local businesses and the communities celebrating this historic occasion.”
