Residents alerted to Exxonmobil’s upcoming tests of emergency alarm system at Fawley Refinery
RESIDENTS are being notified that Fawley Refinery will be carrying out its annual alarm tests on Tuesday 1st October.
ExxonMobil tests the public warning system at the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015 (COMAH) site every first Tuesday of October.
The COMAH alarm will be set off at 2.30pm and 7pm, with the activation sound a two-tone warble lasting for one minute.
This will be followed by the all-clear, which is a continuous sound.
Publicising the tests, Exxonmobil said: “No action is required by local residents.”
The firm’s website states the COMAH alarm has never been sounded in earnest in 70 years of operations.
