Princess Anne’s Royal Lymington Yacht Club visit cancelled after head injury at Gatcombe Park

Princess Anne was set to visit Lymington before she was hospitalised with a minor head injury.

Her Royal Highness is patron of the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, and she was due to attend tomorrow (Wednesday) to celebrate 40 years of its Wednesday Junior Sailing scheme.

All her engagements were cancelled after Sunday’s incident – in which she also suffered concussion – on the Gatcombe Park estate. She was taken to Southmead Hospital, Bristol.

A spokesperson from RLymYC said everyone at the club wished the Princess Royal a speedy recovery.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the Princess for a speedy recovery.”

Princess Anne helped RLymYC celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2022.
