SSEN engineers respond to power cut hitting Totton Health Centre, as well as homes and town centre businesses
A POWER cut in Totton has forced a surgery to relocate patients and shut town centre businesses.
Supplier SSEN was made aware of an outage affecting 128 customers in the town’s SO40 postcode at around 2pm today (Monday).
It said a generator providing power while minor work was being carried out had tripped, and engineers were working to get it reinstated.
Totton Health Centre was among a number of businesses affected, prompting New Horizons Medical Partnership to alert patients.
The post around said: “Due to a loss of power at Totton Health Centre all of this afternoon’s appointments will now take place at Forest Gate Surgery… our phone lines will be open as usual.”
An SSEN spokesperson said: “There are currently 128 customers in Totton who have been off supply since 2pm.
“Customers were already being supplied by generator while minor works are being carried out. This generator has temporary tripped and will be reinstated shortly.
“Engineers are on site and working on this now.”
SSEN’s online Power Track service had shown the issue affecting an area including Totton Shopping Centre, off Commercial Road, but it’s understood the issue stretches to a raft of homes outside the site shown.
The blackout has forced many businesses to close their doors to customers.
Totton Retail Park, off Commercial Road, has also been affected, including Argos, Lidl, and Jollyes.
