Large-scale police search in Iford for missing Sylvia Jeeves (86)

POLICE have been carrying out a large-scale search in Iford today (Monday) for a missing elderly Bournemouth woman thought to be in the area.

The alarm was raised around 9.50pm yesterday (Sunday) amid concerns for the welfare of 86-year-old Sylvia Jeeves, who was understood to have been at an address in the suburb.

However, officers discovered she was no longer present when they attended the property.

A heavy police presence was spotted in Iford Lane this morning as the National Police Air Service helicopter scoured the area overhead.

An image has been released showing Sylvia, who is described as white, slim build, with short grey hair in a bob style.

Ch. Insp. Claire Phillips said: “We are concerned for Sylvia’s welfare and are keen to locate her as soon as possible to ensure she is alright.

“I would urge anyone with information as to her whereabouts, or who has seen a woman matching the description given, to please contact us immediately.”

Ch. Insp. Phillips added: “I would also like to make a direct plea to Sylvia if you see this appeal – please make contact with us as we just want to make sure you are safe and well.”
