Police officer attacked as teens arrested for drug offences at Fordingbridge Sports Club




A POLICE officer was assaulted when two teenage boys were found carrying drugs at a New Forest playing field.

The 17-year-old youngsters had been spotted by a patrol acting suspiciously at Fordingbridge Sports Club, off the A338 Ringwood Road, and were detained for a search around 5.40pm last Friday.

Arrests for possession of class B substances were being made when the attack took place, leaving the officer with minor injuries.

One of the local youths was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer as well as the drug offence.

He was issued with a community resolution order for the drug offence but released under investigation for the assault.

In addition to the drug possession, the other boy was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer in executing their duty, using threatening or abusive words, and sending a threatening letter or communication. He was also released under investigation.
