Police dog helps police trace suspect after burglary at home on Lyndhurst Road in Ashurst




A POLICE dog assisted in the arrest of a suspect following a burglary at an Ashurst home in the early hours.

The alarm was raised shortly before 1.30am today (Monday), with reports the property on Lyndhurst Road had been targeted.

Blaze, of the Hampshire and Thames Valley Police dog section, helped officers track down a 27-year-old Southampton man within 15 minutes.

Arrested on suspicion of dwelling burglary with intent to steal, he remains in custody at this time.

An online post by local police afterwards said: “Police dog Blaze of Hants & TVP Police Dog Section has been hard at it again.

“While most of us were tucked up in bed last night, he and his handler were busy apprehending a suspected burglar.”
