LEARN MOREPLANS have been submitted for five new houses on the plot of a single home in Pennington.
Harnden Homes says its proposals for Crossways in Lower Pennington Lane will be in keeping with the location's "existing pattern of development".
The application also stated that the existing property is of "limited architectural merit" and makes "little contribution to the visual amenity of the street scene".
It added: "Whilst there will be a greater building footprint and increased amount of hard standing than current exists, there will still be a substantial amount of space around the buildings retained as gardens to preserve this characteristic of the site and of other developments along Lower Pennington Lane.
"Whilst the proposed buildings would be higher than the existing house on the site, they would not be significantly higher than the adjacent properties."
The proposed homes would be set back from the street to avoid any overbearing impact, stated the proposals, and each would have its own private rear garden.
Building materials would be in keeping with those of surrounding properties, added the applicant, and assurances were given that significant trees would be protected.
