Westcoast Developments Projects applies to build four homes in place of one on Barton Common Road, Barton

PLANS have been lodged to build four properties in place of one at Barton.

Westcoast Developments Projects Ltd has applied to New Forest District Council for permission to build the homes at Becton Rough in Barton Common Road.

The developer has already secured permission to demolish the existing dwelling.

In its application, Westcoast asserts that a “precedent has already been set” at neighbouring site Creek House, where a single property was replaced with four.

Turning to its own plans, it states the four-bedroom terrace homes would each have their own garage and additional parking spaces, and it was argued there would be no “harmful overlooking to the private amenity of the existing properties to the north”.

The application went on: “The proposal seeks to implement an attractive high-quality development of traditional appearance that reflects the unique character of Barton Common Road, and which adds to its charm.

“This would make more efficient use of urban land, providing traditional, fit-for-purpose family accommodation; and complement the more modern development at the adjacent site at Creek House.”

Three public objections to the plans have so far been received.

NFDC will make a decision after consultation expires on 4th August.
