Witnesses and dash cam footage sought by police as pensioner (79), Wilton, arrested after car seen driving wrong way on M27 and A31 through the New Forest
A PENSIONER has been arrested after a car drove the wrong way along the M27 and on to the A31 through the New Forest.
Police are looking for witnesses and those with dash cam footage of the incident, which happened around 7.40pm on Tuesday.
A silver Honda Accord was seen driving the wrong way along the eastbound carriageway between junctions 1 (Cadnam Interchange) and 2 (Ower), flashing its hazard lights.
It continued on the wrong side of the road on to the A31 travelling through the New Forest, before leaving the dual carriageway.
Officers later arrested a 79-year-old woman at an address in Wilton, Wiltshire, on suspicion of dangerous driving.
She was bailed until 29th January 2025.
A Hampshire force spokesperson said: “Anyone who saw this vehicle, or captured it on dash cam, from junction 2 of the M27 to Stoney Cross between 7.39pm and 7.45pm is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44240471597.”
