Police speeding car stop on M27 near Cadnam nets suspected immigration offenders




STOPPING a speeding car on the M27, near Cadnam, saw police arrest the driver and a passenger on suspicion of immigration offences.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI was pulled over on the motorway by an unmarked motorcycle patrol for speeding around 2pm today (Wednesday).

According to Hampshire’s roads policing unit, the driver initially attempted to provide false details.

But he was arrested when a fingerprint scanner confirmed he was wanted for immigration offences. The vehicle was also seized for being uninsured.

One of the passengers was also found to be wanted for immigration offences, and arrested too.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “While at the scene, officers carried out further enquiries and two 31-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of knowingly entering the UK without leave.”
