THE A337 Southampton Road in Lymington will continue to shut overnight on weekdays until Wednesday 15th July for road maintenance.

Eight nights of resurfacing works were started by Hampshire County Council on the route last Friday, with weekday closures between 8pm and 6am, and a diversion in place.

There was initial confusion when an electronic sign in Lyndhurst giving advance warning of the operation mistakenly displayed the start date as Wednesday 8th July.

A Hampshire County Council spokesperson said last Friday: “The A337 Southampton Road, Lymington, will be closed for eight nights from Friday 3rd July, weather permitting, for resurfacing works.

“The work will take place between 8pm and 6am and a signed diversion will be in place. The road will be open during the day and at the weekend.”

She added: “There was a misunderstanding with the signage with our contractor and they have been asked to update the sign as soon as possible.”
