B3058 Fernhill Lane in New Milton closed for gas leak

A main route into New Milton has been closed after a gas leak.

One person has been evacuated while emergency repairs are carried out on a gas main on the B3058 Fernhill Lane, which closed on Wednesday between Hollands Wood Drive and Barrs Avenue.

A spokesperson from gas firm SGN said: “We’re carrying out essential emergency repair work to our gas main in the B3058 Fernhill Lane.

“Due to the nature of our work and to ensure everyone's safety, the road is closed between its junctions with Hollands Wood Drive and Barrs Avenue. A diversion route is in place for motorists.

“As a precaution, one person has evacuated their home and has secured accommodation for the evening.”

The spokesperson said it was too early to say how long repairs would take but “we'll be working hard to have the road fully reopened as soon as possible”.
