Camp Bestival directors set up Slomo saunas and ice baths at Elkins Boatyard in Christchurch

THE entrepreneurs behind Camp Bestival have opened a wild spa with woodfired saunas and ice baths in Christchurch.

Wellness brand Slomo, owned by Rob and Josie da Bank, opened the new facility at Elkins Boatyard last weekend.

Described as a “contrast therapy hub” there is a temple sauna which can seat and heat up to 10 people, a box sauna for up to eight people, and three ice baths, one of them communal, with parasol shaded seating and lounging areas.

Designed by Josie da Bank, the creative director for Camp Bestival, the Nordic spa-inspired space sits between the rivers Avon and Stour and enjoys views across the water through panoramic mirrored windows.

DJ and firm co-founder Rob da Bank said: "We are thrilled to open Slomo Christchurch at such a beautiful spot with our goal of making hot and cold contrast therapy accessible to all. Step into the soothing heat and let the sauna cleanse your body and calm your mind, with the ice baths giving you the headspace to conquer the day.

“Our Slomo wellness wild spas are designed to help people relax, rejuvenate, recharge and reconnect. Slomo is about stepping back and slowing down, disconnecting from digital to allow connection with a community of like-minded people in real life instead.”

Slomo, formerly known as Slow Motion, was set-up by the da Banks to offer “solutions that counter the stresses of 21st century living”.

Slomo Christchurch is open Saturdays and Sundays, between 9am and 6pm, for six weeks. For more information visit www. slomo.me
