Health and Safety Executive takes over investigation into death of 64-year-old man in Marchwood




THE Health and Safety Executive has now launched an investigation into the death of a 64-year-old man in Marchwood.

As reported in the A&T, emergency services including the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance responded to the “tragic incident” at Cracknore Hard, owned by Associated British Ports, on 18th September.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed the man, who suffered serious injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene. He is yet to be formally named by the force.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed to the A&T it was now leading the probe, which had initially been helmed by the police.

An HSE spokesperson added it could not comment further, due to the ongoing investigation.

A statement issued at the time by ABP said it was aware of a “tragic incident”, adding: “We are providing the appropriate assistance to the relevant bodies to support their inquiries into the incident.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the person involved.”
