NFDC grants permission for nursery at Old School in Lymington

THE Old School in Lymington will be converted into a nursery.

Under delegated powers, New Forest District Council planning officers granted permission for alterations to the listed building in The Square.

The changes will accommodate the building’s use as a nursery, including repairs to its windows and air conditioning units.

NFDC specified that work must follow a “conservation methodology” detailing how broken window panes will be removed and replaced.

Officers also specified the developer must have their design, materials and methodology approved for a mural on a boundary wall before it is repaired and painted.

In a report, NFDC’s conservation officer wrote he was “satisfied” with the details of planned works including alterations to existing modern partitions in the building, new service and waste runs, repair work to window panes, a wall mural and repointing works.
