High demand adds seats and matinee for production of hit show Frozen The Musical at Arnewood School in New Milton
A NEW Milton school has been playing it cool after beating hundreds of others in the UK to be able to perform a hit musical.
Extra seats and a matinee have been added amid growing demand for Arnewood School’s anticipated production of Frozen the Musical, which opens at the end of the month.
Including those behind the scenes, 150 students are involved in the show, which is well into rehearsals.
Arnewood was one of just 11 schools and sixth form colleges selected to stage the musical based on the popular 2013 Disney film.
This was through the United Kingdom of Frozen: Love is An Open Door competition run by Music Theatre International (MTI) and Disney Theatrical Group.
Headteacher Jamie Anderson said: “The anticipation is palpable. The cast are rehearsing for six hours a day – they just can’t let it go.
“Our head of expressive arts, Kirsten Watson, did a superb job in winning the rights to perform this show.
“We are also looking for local businesses to put adverts in the programme.
“The initial four shows were sold out in hours so we’ve managed to add another 60 seats, taking the capacity up to 240 – after all, love is an open door. And we’ve also had to add a matinee.”
Two casts have been assembled, with Elsa played by Nyah Sills and Imogen Bowerbank, and Amy Payne and Lois Robinson playing Anna.
The show runs from Wednesday 29th January to Saturday 1st February, when there will also be a matinee.
Mr Anderson added: “I’ve seen some of the rehearsals and it is going to be sensational.”
