New Milton railway station gets makeover thanks to Friends of New Milton Station
NEW Milton station has been given a makeover by a group of volunteers who are working hard to make it bright and welcoming for travellers.
They have already planted containers, cleaned up the station and stocked a bookshelf with novels provided by the local WI so passengers can read while they wait.
The Friends of New Milton Station, who meet once a week, are now starting to clear up the overgrown station master’s garden.
Large colourful information panels on attractions in the area have been installed on the south side of the station. They depict scenes celebrating New Milton’s unique position “twixt the forest and the sea”.
Local businesses sponsored the panels, which were created by Sign Envy.
The Friends say they have more projects planned for the site, and will be joining in Railway 200 – a year-long series of events by the rail companies celebrating 200 years of railways in the UK in 2025.
