New Milton man arrested over sex assault and robbery attempt in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth

A NEW Milton man has been arrested after a teenage boy was sexually assaulted by a would-be robber in Bournemouth.

The incident, in which the 14-year-old was touched inappropriately and had his pockets searched in Holdenhurst Road, was seen by a passing police officer around 8pm last Thursday.

A man had approached the youngster near the roundabout at the junction with Wellington Road before committing the offences and then made off as the officer went to intervene.

Detained on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted robbery, the 34-year-old from New Milton was later released under investigation as detectives made further enquiries.

DC Jo Regan, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into this incident and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened, or who has any information that might assist our enquiries, to please come forward.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area around the relevant time and has dashcam fitted to please check their footage for anything that might assist us.”
