Quaker House care home in New Milton ‘good’ overall says CQC

THE boss of a New Milton care home has spoken of his delight with the result of its latest Care Quality Commission inspection.

Quaker House in Barton Court Road was given ‘good’ grades in all five inspection categories of being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

CQC inspectors visited the home, which provides accommodation and personal care for up to 40 older people, twice last month. The home had 28 residents at the time of the visits.

Inspectors wrote: “People and their relatives told us the home was very well managed.

“There was a friendly atmosphere in the home, and staff supported people in a kind and caring way that took account of their individual needs and preferences.”

The report found: “There were systems and processes in place to protect people from harm, including how medicines were managed.

“Staff were trained in how to recognise and respond to abuse and understood their responsibility to report any concerns.

“There were sufficient numbers of experienced staff to meet people’s needs.”
