Burgate school teacher John Wines through to judges’ deliberations in America's Got Talent
A NEW Forest school teacher has dazzled judges with his guitar skills on America’s Got Talent.
John Wines, a music teacher at The Burgate School and Sixth Form in Fordingbridge, took to the stage at AGT Auditions with a storming version of Queen’s We Will Rock You.
Judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel unanimously voted John through to the next round where he will be considered for the live semi-finals.
A spokesperson from Burgate said the school was “thrilled and immensely proud” of John who applied to prove to a student who struggles with performance nerves that he was prepared to push himself out of his comfort zone.
“It’s a miracle he made it to the first audition as the original invite had languished in his junk folder for two days and was only found by chance,” they said.
Headteacher David Pover said: “This was such exciting news, we are delighted for John and Team Burgate are fully behind him!
“We know John is a fantastic teacher but were less aware of his rock god alter-ego!
“John is an inspiration to us all but particularly for our students who will learn from the commitment he has clearly shown to his craft and the bravery he has shown by entering such a huge competition.”
John is on TikTok and Instagram as ‘Old Grey Guitarist’.
