An HCC spokesperson said Lepe Country Park has been improved in recent years with the addition of a new cafe and better car parking.

Cllr Russell Oppenheimer, the council’s cabinet member for recreation, heritage and rural affairs, said news of the Green Flag award was "wonderful".

Running since 1997, the Green Flag Award scheme is run by Keep Britain Tidy for the government, and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces.
