New Forest West MP Sir Desmond Swayne wants explanation from Boris Johnson after partygate fine

LEARN MORESIR Desmond Swayne is keeping his lips sealed on whether the Prime Minister retains his confidence until he gives an explanation over being fined by the Metropolitan Police for attending parties at Number 10 during lockdown.
Parliament is currently on its Easter recess, so New Forest West MP Sir Desmond told the A&T today (Tuesday): "I cannot speak for the mood given that we are all spread to the winds in our different constituencies."
He added: "I will not be making any comment until I have the PM's own explanation."
Downing Street confirmed this afternoon that Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak had been issued fixed penalty notices for breaking lockdown laws by attending parties while nationwide restrictions were in place.
Labour leader Keir Starmer has called for the pair to resign, as has the Covid 19 Bereaved Families for Justice group.
New Forest East MP Julian Lewis has also been approached for comment.
