Lyndhurst’s Lime Wood Hotel named ‘spa of the year’ The Times and Sunday Times’ inaugural 50 Best UK Spas guide
THE facilities at a luxury New Forest hotel have seen it named ‘spa of the year’ in a prestigious list of the 50 best UK spas.
Lyndhurst’s Lime Wood Hotel grabbed the title in The Times and Sunday Times’ inaugural 50 Best UK Spas guide, and inevitably took best in Southeast England too. New Milton’s Chewton Glen Hotel and Brockenhurst’s Carey’s Manor Hotel also feature in the top 50.
Since opening in 2009, Lime Wood’s Herb House Spa has been hailed as a pioneer in the UK’s wellness scene. Guests and critics love its forest-bathing inspired design, innovative use of its rooftop for relaxation, and commitment to seasonal, locally-sourced cuisine.
The guide says the Herb House continues to set the standard for excellence in spa experiences, offering everything from cold-water dunks and sound healing to ayurvedic treatments led by qualified practitioners.
Claire Irvin, head of travel at The Times and Sunday Times, said: “This inaugural edition of our 50 Best UK Spas guide builds on the ongoing success of our popular ‘Best Places to Stay’ and ‘Best Beaches’ lists.
“At The Times and Sunday Times, our award-winning travel team is dedicated to producing the most authoritative, meticulously researched, expert guides, and our new spa list reflects the growing importance of wellness in the UK.”
The guide divides the UK into 10 regions: London, Southeast, Southwest, Central, East, Northwest, North and Northeast, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Scotland. Spa writers travel from the Scottish Highlands to the coasts of Cornwall.
Lime Wood Hotel spa director Tammy Kenyon, said: “We set out 14 years ago to create a unique spa experience, inspired by our magnificent Forest location, based on a core belief in a holistic, organic approach to wellbeing and fitness.
“Over the years, we have built partnerships with world-class brands who share our values, notably Bamford, Voya, Ground Wellbeing and Sarah Chapman.
“We continually innovate and this year have delivered a complete new Ayurvedic experience which our clients love. These values are mirrored with nutritious, fresh plant-based food on the menu at Raw & Cured, with many ingredients direct from our partners at Four Acre, a no dig farm less than 10 miles away.”
She added: ”Huge thanks to our amazing team and our wonderful members, many of whom have been with us from day one.”
