NFDC completes affordable housing scheme in Moore Close, New Milton

AN “affordable” housing scheme has been completed in New Milton.

New Forest District Council said the six flats and ten houses in Moore Close meet the government’s proposed Future Homes Standard provisions.

The authority also said the homes will produce 75% to 80% fewer carbon emissions than older, less energy efficient properties.

Homes feature energy efficiency and carbon reduction measures such as air source heat pumps, solar panels, triple glazing, increased insulation, and electric vehicle charging points.

Some of the homes are fully accessible for wheelchair users while others are adaptable for those who may experience limited mobility in the future.

NFDC’s spokesperson for housing and homelessness, Cllr Steve Davies, said: “I am absolutely delighted to see the beautiful homes at Moore Close finished and so many already occupied.

“This is our second scheme built to the proposed Future Homes Standard, which shows what the future looks like today, and how meeting that standard can make running the homes even more affordable.”
